The experience
Slow is fast when you're looking for turtles
Turtles graze the seagrass beds and cruise the reef edges around Harbour Island, surfacing every so often in that unhurried way they have. Snorkeling these waters with a little patience — and a bit of local knowledge — is the best way to share the ocean with them for a while.
Sightings can never be guaranteed — they're wild animals, not a scheduled attraction — but the wait is half the magic, and it's very often rewarded.

The best encounters happen when you float calmly and let the turtle carry on with its day.

Give them room. A relaxed turtle often drifts surprisingly close on its own — those are the moments.

No touching or riding
Touching stresses turtles and damages the protective layer on their shells. Hands stay to ourselves.

No chasing or feeding
Chasing teaches fear; feeding teaches dependence. Neither belongs on a wildlife experience.
